Researchers from North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences (NKUMS) achieved first place in the Applied and Problem-Oriented Research (Research Pitch) category at INOTEX 2025, one of the most prominent science and technology events in Iran and Southwest Asia. The exhibition was held on May 1, 2025, at Pardis Technology Park, Tehran, with the support of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy and the Center for Progress and Development of the Presidency.

The winning project, titled “Design, Fabrication, and Clinical Evaluation of a Silicone-Mold-Based Antibiotic-Loaded Bone Cement Spacer for the Treatment of Infections Following Knee Arthroplasty,” was recognized for its innovation and clinical impact. The research team—Dr. Mohammad Amin Younesi Heravi, Dr. Reza Ganji, and Dr. Esmaeil Garivani—conducted the study with support from the Vice Chancellorship for Research and Technology of NKUMS.

By employing advanced techniques in biomedical design and materials engineering, the project aims to improve treatment outcomes for joint infections, a major complication in knee replacement surgeries.

At the closing ceremony, attended by national officials and international representatives including Dr. Andrey Fursenko, Special Assistant to the President of Russia for Science and Technology, Dr. Younesi Heravi received the First Place Trophy on behalf of the research team.

This accomplishment underscores NKUMS’s growing strength in medical technology and innovative therapeutic research, and is expected to foster further advancements in biomaterials and orthopedic treatment technologies.
